This style of short yataghan sword is sometime referred to as "Naval Yataghan", probably due to its short blade. This exemplar has a finely forged blade, of sham steel, 15 1/2 inches long with a pronounced T shaped spine. The grips are walrus ivory and the grip strap and bolsters are engraved gilded silver set with coral stones. This Yataghan comes with its original scabbard, covered with finely tooled leather, stitched with its original spiral stitching. Total length 23 inches. Good condition. Old repair to one of the walrus ears, minor loss to the leather cover.
