This early 19 C. Kard knife is Persian, made for the Turkish market. Turkish style shape and dimensions but the fine wootz blade is Persian as well as the enameled handle and scabbard. The 7 inches blade is forged from fine high contrast wootz (Damascus, watered) steel, signed with the maker sign. The silver handle and scabbard are gilded and finely enameled in the Persian Qajar style. Total length 12 ½ inches. Very good condition with very minor losses to the enamel. A very fine piece.
