A Rare early Ottoman or Balkan dagger with tapering double-edged blade cut with a pair of long fullers centering on a medial ridge and with further narrow grooves. Ebony grip with silver mounts cast and chased with beadwork and small raised panels at the top, middle, and bottom. Velvet-covered wooden scabbard with large silver locket and chape decorated with bands of beadwork. Blade 12 inches, total length 20 inches. This type of wood hilt suggest early date possibly 18c or earlier. This Dagger is coming from the famous HOLSTEIN (P.) collection, collected in the late 19c and published in a 1931 book Armes Orientales.
