A Real Khevsur Gerogian saber - 12464

This sword is of Georgian origin from early 19c. It was carried by the Khevsur people who lived on the north east part of Georgia in the area of the Georgian great mountains near Ossetian and not far from Chechnya. Wood handle covered with silver rosettes and rings and silver pommel decorated with niello work. Steel cross guard retained few gold inlaid decoration. Original scabbard with recent leather cover and steel mounts also inlaid with some gold. Total length 38 1/2 inches. Very good condition. A very rare sword to find and real. Most examples on the market are recently made. Bottom mount is old but not belong.
