This is a classical fine 19 C. Persian Shamshir sword with 18 C. blade of fine high contrast wootz steel Blade in the Kirk Narduban pattern, also known as ladder pattern, length 33 1/2 inches. Elephant ivory grips, deeply etched gilded steel cross guard and pommel. Leather covered (later?) wood scabbard with gilded etched steel belt carrying bands. Total length 39 inches. Very good condition. some of the gilding is worn. Very fine and rare item.
