Very Good Short Sword of the Yaka , Zaire, Africa - 12435


A very good and complete Yaka sword. The Yaka people reside in the southern borders of Zaire, and they developed a sword of very typical shape. The blade is 12 ½ inches long with wavy edges, engraved with geometrical design with the original blackening of the blade center. The grip is covered with animal hide and the pommel looks like a crown made from copper / steel wires with a long tubular / conical pommel. The scabbard is covered with hide and the scabbard tip is widening to a big circle like tail. Total length 19 inches..Very good condition allover. This sword is dated to the early -20th Century
