Very Fine Wootz Kattar Push Dagger - 12432

This very fine Kattar dagger is Indian, late 18 to early 19 C. Finely forged wootz (Damascus, watered) ) steel blade 7 ½ inches long, with central rib and thickened tip. Handle side bars as well as the cross bars are finely decorated with gold koftgari work. Original scabbard covered with very finely tooled leather with the original silver tip. Total length 14 ½ inches. Very good condition. The back side of the scabbard has two compartments for side knives, now missing. Minor blackened spots on the blade. Losses to the gold inlay on the inner side of the side bars. |
