Old Moroccan Koumaya Jambiya Dagger - 12428


The Moroccan version of the Arab Jambiya dagger is locally called Koumaya and characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top. There is a big variety in the decoration styles and quality of the handles and scabbards. This one is a good example, circa 1900. Very Good quality 9 inches blade of hollow ground cross section. Finely inlaid wood handle with red paste and metal nails and brass pommel. The scabbard is made of brass covered with pierced silver design. Total length 17 inches. Very good condition.
