This very fine yataghan is dated to 1242 (1826 in the Gregorian calendar) The 25 inches finely forged blade is finely and richly decorated with gold and silver koftgari inlay work, with inscriptions in Arabic Letters and dated. The grips are walrus ivory and grip strap and bolsters are steel with rich silver inlay work. The leather covered (later) scabbard is mounted with large silver locket and chape. Total length 32 inches. Very good condition. Minor losses to the gold inlay. Minor dents on the silver parts of the scabbard.
