This Billao dagger is late 19 - early 20 Century and comes from the coastal people of Somalia. It has a classical non-symmetrical leaf shape blade, 8 ½ inches long, finely forged with a shallow central rib. The handle is made of two ivory sectors separated by layers of horn and brass. The pommel cap is silver. Original hide. Total length 17 ½ inches. Very good condition. Minor blackened spots on the blade.
