This fine Datu Kris sword is Moro, early – mid 19 C. The blade, may be even earlier, is 21 ½ inches long, straight, finely forged with central double fuller and heat hardened edges. The handle is wood bound with braided silver bands and plain silver bands and a large size 6 inches long silver cockatoo pommel. The two reinforcing bands (baka baka ) are silver. Total length 27 ½ inches. Very good condition. This item is coming from the John Woodman Higgins Armory Collection and was donated to the collection by the descendant of Brigadier General W.H. Sage.
