Rare Matched Pair of Ayda Katti Swords, Coorg, India - 12247


The Ayda Katti is the national sword of the Coorg of Malabar, the South West coastal area of India. It is one of the rarest swords in the Indian arsenal and of a very peculiar shape. It reminds in a way an agricultural tool, but it is a real weapon and a deadly one in the experienced hands. We offer for sale here a rare matched pair of swords, mid-late 19C., Blades 15 inches long and 3 ½ inches wide at their widest point with steel bolsters. The handle are carved horn checkered around the grips area, with a kite shaped horn pommel. 21 inches total length. Very good condition. Good age patina on the blades.
