The Moroccan version of the Arab Jambiya dagger is locally called Koumaya and characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top. There is a big variety in the decoration styles and quality of the handles and scabbards. This one is one of a top quality, with a relatively good 9 ½ inches blade and a big massive grip carved of Rhino horn. The scabbard and grip mounts are made of finely worked silver. Very good condition. A very good high quality piece.
