We offer for sale this very fine Turkish Shamshir sword, with a Heavy 18C. blade forged from high contrast Persian wootz steel, ladder pattern, with high contrast pattern, Blade length 33 inches long marked with the Persian lion and maker mark in true gold inlay. The grips are massive, rhino horn with bulbous pommel. Silver cross guard and grip strap. The heavy silver mounts of the scabbard are later, dated to 1340 (?) ( 1920 in the Gregorian calendar) scabbard mounts are silver. Leather covered scabbard with silver spiral stitching. Total length 40 inches. Very good condition. Very impressive heavy sword.
