Wood shields of the Moro people of south Philippines are very early and rare. This one is 21 inches diameter, carved entirely in wood, painted black and brown and decorated with braided rattan at the rim. A small mirror is fixed at the center. Very good condition. Age crack in the wood. Some losses to the rattan binding at the rim. A rare authentic piece.
