Up for sale is a fine 19c Qajar Shamshir sword. The steel hilt with pommel in the form of a bird’s head and quillon terminals formed as dragonheads, chiseled overall with flowering vines and busts of princes. The broad, lightly-curved wootz blade with pronounced back edge, fine central fuller and paired, intermittent back fullers separated by inlaid vines and inscribed at the right forte in a pair of cartouches, NASR AL DIN AL SULTAN QAJAR and WORK OF AITBAR ISFALI [?] . Overall length 88 cm. Very good condition.
