Fine Indian Wootz Karud Dagger - 12144

This Karud dagger is the straight back member of the family of the Pesh-Kabz, Choora and Khyber Knife. The whole family of such daggers is common to India, Persia and several Central Asian countries. This fine exemplar is most probably of North India origin, mid – late 19C. The blade is forged from wootz (Damascus, watered ) steel, 9 ½ inches long, with a pronounced T spine tapering to an acute tip. The grips are made from slabs of Elephant ivory. The bolsters and grip strap are steel. Original scabbard covered with original blue and mounted with silver mounts. Very good condition. Impressive dagger. |
