Up for sale is this fine example of a Balkan Yataghan sword early – mid 19C. Typical down curving blade, 23inches long, very richly decorated with silver inlay (true inlay) of inscriptions in Arabic letters. The handle is composed of two massive walrus ivory grips with the classical large eared pommel. . The bolster and grip strap are made from chased end filigree silver. The scabbard is very finely chased silver. Total length 32 inches. Very good condition . very good and dark age patina on the grips. A solder repair to the right bolster and grip strap.
