This Yataghan sword is Turkish, late 18 – early 19 C. The 24 inches marked blade is forge welded from several twisted steel rods in a pattern known as Turkish Ribbon. The grips are ivory and the bolsters as well as the grip strap are silver with filigree work. Original scabbard with big chased silver locket and chapes. Total length 30 inches. Very good condition. Blackened areas and shallow pitted spots on the blade. Dented spots on the locket. Chape tip is replaced.
