The Podang, sometimes also known as Piso Podang is a sword common to Sumatra and specifically to the Batak People. The influence of the Indian Tulwar sword on its specific hilt shape is evident. This very good example has a single edged finely fullered and slightly curved blade, 32 inches long . The Solid brass hilt is of a typical form with a reverse cup shape pommel. Wood scabbard.
