Fine Syrian (Magdali) Khangar Dagger dated 1948 - 12041


A fine exemplar of a Syrian Jambiya dagger dated on the blade to 1947 (quite early date for this type of daggers), early 20C. It is made in the Druze village of Magdal Shams (Tower of the sun) in the Golan Heights, the area of dispute between Israel and Syria. Curved short blade, 6 inches long finely fullered, engraved with Arabic letters and dated. The blade is inserted with red and green round inserts. The handle made from layers and mosaics pieces of horn, bone, mother of pearl and brass in intricate geometrical design. Engraved brass scabbard. Total length 10 inches. Very good condition. Very minor losses on the handle mosaic. Scabbard tip damaged.
