Fine Yemenite Thouma Jambiya Dagger with Rhino Horn Handle - 12028

This Yemenite Jambiya dagger is also know as Thouma and it is carried mostly by high ranking peoples in the Yemenite society. The blade is wide, double edged with a pronounced central rib 8 inches long and 2 ½ inches wide. The handle is carved from rhino horn set with ion nails, imitation brass coins and an Arab silver coin dated 1382 (1953). The scabbard is large silver filigree work. This Jambiya comes with its original wide belt adorned with silver accessories: Amulet pockets and money pocket. Total length of belt 41 inches. Very good condition. Small damage repairs on the hilt below the pommel. Rare and authentic Jambiya from the early - mid 20 C. |
