This dagger is Turkish, early – mid 19 C. It is in the style of e classical Turkish Kard but with a dagger double edge blade rather than a knife style blade. The blade is 10 inches long, forged from fine high contrast wootz (Damascus, watered) steel with gold inlay decoration at the base. Single piece ivory handle with small coral bids. Total length 14 ½ inches. Very good condition. Traces of scratches on the blade. Very good age patina on the handle. Age cracks on the ivory but it holds very solid. Later rivets to reinforce the handle.
