Up for sale is this early Yataghan sword, dated to 1222 (1807 in the Gregorian calendar). This style of yataghan with very big eared pommel is commonly referred to as Balkan. Blade 25 inches, down curving with a narrow fuller just below the spine. The blade is decorated with inlaid silver (true inlay) with Arabic inscriptions and date. Wide ears grip made from Rhino ??) horn with deep black brown patina. Chased silver grip strap and bolsters. Total length 30 inches. Very good condition. Later solder repair on the right bolster. No scabbard.
