Whole Steel Bichwa Dagger, India - 6223


This dagger is a Bichwa, a rare blade in the Indian arsenal, meaning: ‘The Scorpion Sting’. It is old, late 17 or early 18 Century with a 19 C. scabbard. The blade is double edged, re-curving, 8 inches long and slightly swollen at its tip. The hilt is heavy, whole steel ring shaped, and riveted to the top of the blade. Wood scabbard covered with brown leather and fitted with a pierced brass tip. Total length (in scabbard) is 13 ½ inches. Very good condition, some minor and shallow age pitting on the blade. This item is offered here at a reasonable price considering its rarity and age.
