Very Rare and Unusual Indian Jambiya with Chevron Wootz Blade - 11986


This Khanjar / Jambiya dagger is Indian, late 18 C. Its blade is constructed in a rare structure of three different steel ingots, forged welded in an alternate order of a chevron pattern. Two of the ingots are wootz of different style and one plain high carbon steel. Altogether a beautiful blade. Blade is curved, double edged with a central rib, 10 inches long. Whole steel handle with a removable pommel cover. Total length 14 inches. Very good condition to age. Minor shallow pitted spots on one face of the blade. No scabbard.
