Large and heavy Yataghan Sword with Twisted Steel Blade - 11964

This unusual large and heavy Yataghan sword is probably Turkish, early 19 C. or earlier. 27 inches blade with a 2 inches wide belly and pronounced T spine. Very fine forging in the pattern known as Turkish Ribbon. Ivory grips with silver covered grip strap and bolsters. Brass mounted, leather covered original scabbard with spiral stitched seam. Total length 34 inches. Very good condition. |
