Very Good 19C. Qama Sword - 11957


This large dagger / short sword is a Qama, early – mid 19 C. The massive blade is straight, double edged, diamond cross section with a short gold inlay inscription in Arabic (??) letters. Massive single piece walrus ivory handle of classical form. Original wood scabbard covered with leather and mounted with a gold inlaid belt carrying ring and an ivory scabbard tip. Blade 16 inches long 1 ¾ inches wide. Total length 23 inches. Very good condition. Minor edge nicks. Minor chip on the ivory handle. Small damage to the leather cover.
