Very Long and Wide Flyssa Sword, Morocco - 6216


We offer for sell this Flyssa, the traditional sword of the Kabyles people of Morocco. These type of swords come with blades of various sizes from 12 up to 38 inches. This one is rather long and heavy 33 inch long, with a 28 inches blade almost ½ inch thick at its base. It is single edge widening to its maximum of 2 inches (The widest and heaviest we have seen) about 11 inches from the tip. The blade is heavily inlaid with brass decoration. The hilt is a combination of steel and wood covered with engraved brass in a styled animal head. There is no scabbard. Few very minor pitted spots at the tip, and some losses to the brass grip cover, but otherwise in great condition. This is a real and very impressive fighting weapon, quite rare at these dimensions. Probably from the early 19 Century.
