Fine Indian Sword with Wootz Persian Blade and Jadeite Handle - 11914


This fine sword is Indian. Its employ a mid 19 C. Persian trade blade finely fullered and chiseled with a maker mark and inscription in Arabic letters. The blade is forged from fine Wootz (Damascus, Watered) steel of high contrast pattern. The handle is composed of Jadeite grip and steel cross guard and D guard richly decorated with gold koftgari work. The handle is later to the blade, probably early – mid 20C. Blade length 30 inches. Total 35 ½ inches. Very good condition.
