Very Good Large Size Choora Dagger from the Khayber Pass - 11886

This Choora knife is a large example of this family, early 20C. , coming from the Khayber pass area between India and Afghanistan. It was carried by the Mahsud people residing in this area. The blade is 11 inches long with acute tip, “T” back spine and reinforced edge. The blade is decorated with fine etching. The grips are made of four sectors of ivory, riveted to the tang with four rivets. The bolster and the hilt strap are finely engraved white metal. The scabbard is wood, covered with tooled leather. Total length in scabbard 17 inches (compared to 12-13 inches in the more common ones). Very good condition. |
