Very Good Indian Jambiya Dagger - 11862

This Jambiya / Khanjar dagger is Indian, early – mid 19 C. An interesting mix of Indian and Arab styles. The massive double edge curved blade is 8 inches long, flat hexagonal cross section. Most probably it is forged of some kind of watered steel (but the pattern is hardly visible). Wood handle with silver mounts and twisted silver wire binding of the grip. Velvet covered scabbard with white metal tip. Total length 14 inches. Very good condition. The blade is of clear Indian style where the handle show Arabic influence. This dagger comes from the collection of Freiherr von Hochstetter, Düsseldorf.
A very interesting item.
