Huge Parang / Pedang Sword from Sumatra - 6188

We offer here for sale an interesting variant of the Pedang sword, probably from Sumatra. In the classical work by A.G Van Zonneveld Traditional Weapons of the Indonesian Archipelago Page 102 it is defined as Pedang II. A huge massive single edge blade, 29 inches Long with black horn, partially carved handle. It is mounted in a wood scabbard bound with colored rattan strips and with black horn mouth and tip. Total length in scabbard 36 inches. Very good condition. Very minor pitted spots on the blade and an age crack to the handle (But still holding very firmly) Minor damages and repairs to the rattan wrapping, with the upper part bound later to the lower part, probably done to repair the damaged old wrapping.
