A very fine and top quality Arab Jambiya dagger from Oman. By far, the best we offered for sale. Very seldom you would find a similar one in such a quality, completeness and condition. It has a 7 inches curved and dual edge blade with a pronounced central rib. The hilt is horn of the classical “I” shaped with a silver front panel and silver decoration at the top of the pommel. The scabbard is “L” shaped covered with leather and embroidered with silver and gold narrow strips in an intricate decorative pattern. The belt attachment is made of complicate arrangements of silver rings and twisted silver wire. All scabbard and hilt fittings are silver chased in a typical design and covered with a thin sheet of gilded silver. This item comes with its original belt, also embroidered with silver and gold strips in the same design as the scabbard, with silver buckle and silver knobs. The blade has few pitted areas but maintained its black age patina. One of the belt’s silver buttons was replaced and a there is minor damage to the green fabric covering the back of the scabbard. Otherwise it is an item of high quality and in very good condition, a good typical piece for the advanced collector of Arabic weapons / art.
