Authentic Fine Axe of the Mangbetu - 11715

The knife of the Mangbetu people residing in Central Africa was originally used as a weapon of war and also as an agricultural implement, but later on developed into luxury item and a symbol of status. This one is a fine early 20C.,with a larger than usual sickle shaped. 12 inches (point to point) blade, very well forged. The original blackening of the steel with the polished edges is maintained. Wood grip bound with twisted brass wires. Total length 17 inches. Very good condition. A fine authentic piece. |
