We offer here for sale an old. mid 19 C. Sewar dagger / knife from central Sumatra. The Sewar is characterized by its heavy down curving blade, by the grip shape and specifically by the down extending protrusion from the scabbard mouth. Here the heavy blade is 9 ½ inches long, forged from good laminated steel with hardened edge. The grip is solid horn covered with a beautifully sawsa (gold copper alloy) collar and finely engraved gilded bolster. The scabbard is wood bound with silver bands and with a big horn mouth, 4 inches long. Total length in scabbard 15 inches. Very good condition. a small crack in the sawsa collar. An unusually fine knife.
