Very Good Arab Knife / Dagger Shafra with Silver Handle - 11693

This small knife is called in Arabic as Shafra or Kusha. It is carried attached to the rear side of the wide belt behind the Jambiya (Khanjar) dagger and found all over the Arabian peninsula in varying shapes. Here is a very good example: The blade is 5 ½ inches long, down curving and hollow grinded. The grip is finely chiseled and engraved silver. Total length 9 ½ inches. Very good condition. It should be noted here that several sources (Stone, Egerton and others) identify this type of knife as Nepali, probably due to the blade shape and curvature. |
