Qajar Double Headed Axe 19C - 11641

This axe is Persian, from the late Qajar period, second half of the 19 C. Two large semicircular blades, 8 ½ inches tip to tip each, chiseled with decorative inscription in Arabic letters and gold koftgary design in a classical Qajar style, on a common central socket. The blades are mounted on a steel haft etched in a pattern to imitate Damascus steel, and with a 5 ½ inches pike steel tip. Total length 36 inches. Very good condition
