Fine Omani Khanjar / Jambiya Dagger with Rhino Horn Hilt - 11621

This fine Arab Khnjar / Jambiya dagger is late 19 C. from Oman. It has a 8 inches curved and dual edge well forged blade with a pronounced central rib. The grip is carved from Rhino horn mounted with chased silver collar and decorated with many hundreds of silver nail on its front face and on the pommel side. The scabbard is “L” shaped covered with fabric and mounted with chased filigree silver locket en suite with the hilt mounts. The belt attachment is made of complicate arrangements of 7 silver rings and twisted silver wire. This dagger comes with its original brocade belt, quite worn and covered at a later date with an orange color fabric, also worn. Total length is 13 inches. Very good condition. Blade with minor patches of lightly pitted areas. Minor dents and small damages to the silver mounts. Worn belt and fabric cover on the scabbard. |
