Very Good Khayber Sword with Ivory Grips - 11612


The Khayber sword (Also Known as Salawar Yatagan) was originally the common side arm of the Afrids people residing in the area of the Khaybar pass between Pakistan and Afghanistan, but it use was extended into Pakistan as well as India and Central Asia. It is easily recognized by its straight blade, pronounce T spine cross section and tapering tip. This one is of Indian origin, with a massive 24 inches long, 2 inches wide blade. The grips are massive four pieces of elephant ivory with lobbed pommel and steel bolsters and grip strap. This sword comes with its original tooled leather covered scabbard with finely chased brass locket and chape. Total length (in scabbard) 31 inches. Very good condition. Blackened areas on the blade but no pitting. The leather cover is a later replacement.
