We offer here for sale a very nice and good quality Parang sword / machete from Indonesia, probably from Java, late 19 C. The blade is 17 ½ inches long, heavy and single edged. It is forged from good pamor steel. The hilt is solid light colored horn. The scabbard is wood, with horn locket and the chape is constructed from layers of ivory and black horn. Dark wood belt attachment bound to the scabbard with braided rattan bands. All in very good condition. Minor age cracks in the hilt horn, almost not noticeable and a small crack to the wood scabbard. A very fine item.
