This large and heavy kard knife is Persian, late 10 – early 19 C. Large 11 inches thick blade forged from very good high contrast wootz (Damascus, watered) steel. The blade is decorated with rich gold koftgari inlay decoration. Steel grip strap also with gold inlay decoration. Very big and massive elephant ivory grips. Original black leather scabbard with steel tip. Total length 16 ½ inches. Very good condition. Minor blackened spots on the blade. Grips with age patina of very good color. Minor losses to the gold inlay. Damaged scabbard seam with repairs. Very impressive kard
