Very Good MANDAU, Sword of the Dyak Head Hunters, Borneo - 11511


This MANDAU (sometimes also called “Parang Ihlang”) is a late 19 C. vintage with a heavy 22 inches blade with a convex / concave cross section, engraved and decorated with brass inserts. The handle is “L” shaped, carved from antler bound with fibers and with long hair tuft at the pommel end. Wood scabbard bound with rattan strips binding colorful hair tufts. Back hide compartment for the side knife. Total length 28 inches. This Mandau comes with its original red baldric carrying thread, with a large antler button. Very good condition. Several brass inserts are missing.
