Fine Hanshee Khukuri Knife with Carved Horn Handle - 11384

This Khukuri knife is late 19 C., probably Indian. 12 inches blade of the rare style known as Hanshee . The spine is filed. The bolster is brass and the handle is very finely carved horn in the shape of a mythical monster, with silver studs and engraved iron collar. Leather covered scabbard with two accompanied knife and steel, also with horn handles. Total length 15 ½ inches. Very good condition. Lower seam of the scabbard partially opened and repaired. The handle shape is very similar to sword handles from Sri Lanka and might be influence by it. |
