Up for sale is this early, 18C. or earlier, very good “PIHA KAHETTA” the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). It has a single edged short heavy blade, 8 inches long with a down curving tip. The grips are beautifully carved from ivory with dark, shining age patina. Silver pommel cover. Original wood scabbard. Total length is 12 inches. Very good condition. Dark age patina on the ivory grips with age cracks but holds solid. Blackened spots and patches of pitted areas. Pommel cover is damaged.
