The Ula or Ulu is a throwing club from the Fiji Islands. It is carved from the root stem of a local bush, and it is extremely hard. The head is of ball shape 3 1/2 inches and the handle is 12 inches long with nice carving at the tip. Total length 15 inches. Very good condition. Good age patina. Age crack on the head. An early 20th C. vintage. A very similar club is shown in L. A. D. Montague, Weapons and Implements of Savage Races Page 87, Fig 48 # 1.
