Up for sale is this early, 18C. or earlier, good “PIHA KAHETTA” the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). It has a single edged short heavy blade, 7 inches long with brass inlay and down curving tip. The grips are beautifully carved from ivory with dark, shining age patina. Silver pommel cover. Original wood scabbard with copper / brass mouth. Total length is 11 ˝ inches. Good condition. Dark age patina on the ivory grips with age cracks but holds solid. Blackened spots and patches of pitted areas. Pommel cover is damages.
