Fine Early Turkish Kilij Sword - 11230


This fine sword employ an early Turkish Kilij blade, 18 C. or earlier, long and relatively narrow, 33 inches long. The blade is forged from fine Sham (Low contrast wootz steel) and richly decorated with gold koftgari inlay of Arabic inscription in the Kufic style (Early square Arabic Calligraphy). Later, probably late 19 or early 20 C. ivory grips, silver cross guard and grip strap. Total length 38 inches. Very good condition. No scabbard.
