Fine 19 C. Ottoman Kilij/Pala Sword - 11208

This Kilij Sword, sometimes known as Pala is Turkish, 19 C. The blade, probably a Persian made one is 30 inches long deeply curved with a 10 inches raised back edge, forged from Wootz (Watered, Damascus) steel and marked with a chiseled maker mark. finely decorated with gold koftgari work. The grips are rhino horn with steel grip strap and cross guard also decorated with gold koftgari work. Total length 35 inches. Very good condition. Losses to the gold decoration. Small cracks and repairs on the grips. No scabbard. A fine sword of quality. |
