This dagger is Turkish, probably East Turkey and may be from the Kurdish population in the region. The blade of flat diamond cross section is forged from Wootz steel 8 ½ inches long. Walrus ivory handle with (later) silver collars, probably added to reinforce and conceal a crack or a breakage. Finely engraved silver scabbard. Total length 17 inches. Very good condition. Minor blackened spots on the blade.
